BLENDING CULTURES

Weddings have become the impetus for blending the cultures of the happy couple and making the union a way of really uniting the families and their diverse backgrounds. Whether you are blending religions, nationalities or traditions, making your wedding a true marriage of your backgrounds is a wonderful way to "Welcome" to your families and guests. You can achieve this easily with food, favors and the theme of the wedding... a Chinese wedding banquet, an Indian buffet, a favor that blends the cultures.

CENTERED ON THE TABLE

Centerpieces are one of the things that can make or break the look of the room! You don't have to settle for the typical floral center-piece or the traditional styles. Use your centerpiece as the vessel to designate the table names. Or, use living things instead of flowers. And, keep the theme of the wedding throughout the entire room. There is no right way to decorate for your wedding! Use your imagination!!

LET'S TALK TRENDS!

Flowers...Favors...Themes- new trends for 2007! Every bride wants to have a unique element to her wedding. Whether it is blending cultures, choosing a theme that showcases your personality or using a new idea for centerpieces, there are so many ways to be creative. Today I am talking flowers. Hand tied bouquets are still the popular way to go, but how about using cones! A mossy cone laced with heather or a tussie mussie make for a wonderful change from flower stems. Berries, fruits and all things green can make a striking centerpiece! Choose flowers that work with the theme of the wedding- and make sure that if your heart is set on a particular flower, it is in season for your wedding. Pomander balls can be used in the room decor or instead of a flower basket for the youngest members of your wedding party. Use your imagination and make it a fun adventure for your planning to choose the way your flowers look!!

A NOTE ABOUT GOWNS

This is for all of you brides who haven't bought your gowns yet! I have been reading message board posts from brides who have horror stories about gowns. As someone who knows- listen up! Don't buy a gown on line. You might get lucky and actually get the gown you bought, but you may wind up with no dress! Never buy a dress from a shop that doesn't carry the line. If you can't see dresses from a desinger- BEWARE! They can't buy if they don't have the samples. If a shop cuts the tags out of their dresses, chances are the dress you see isn't from that designer. Most shops change the style numbers in their stock, but that is ok. It is for their own protection. Be very careful about where you buy your dress, girls! There are many pitfalls! Questions? Write me!
