DESTINATION NEW YORK CITY

Looking ahead to next year and all of the couples who will be getting engaged over the holidays.  Since many couples have left home to find careers in other cities and who will be planning weddings in those cities, I have decided to do a series on wedding venues across the country.  First stop- New York City!
I want to start with the venue that I did my very first wedding as a planner- Wave Hill. This English Country Estate, built in 1843, and sits, not in the countryside of England, but on the Hudson in New York City is a splendid venue.  With its sprawling gardens and a terrace that overlooks the river, its a step back in time and the former home of people like Mark Twain, Teddy Roosevelt and Toscaninni.  You can choose to say your vows in the garden or on the terrace, then dinner in the Armor Room and dance the night away in the Mark Twain Room.  The views at night are glorious.  The exclusive caterer is Great Performances- one of the premier caterers in the city.  Their locally sourced food and seasonal menus are delicious and the service is impeccable.  This venue holds 130 people comfortably, however larger weddings can be held with the addition of a tent on the lawn below the terrace.

From the peaceful garden of Wave Hill we travel to Tribeca.  Tribeca Rooftop is located on a cobblestone street in a 1920's printing press building.  The Rooftop boasts an incredible glass atrium with amazing views and an unforgettable attention to detail.  Tribeca 360 Loft has oversize windows with a 360 view of the city as the backdrop for your wedding.  Seasonal menus from their in house caterer and delicious desserts to accompany your wedding cake make it all so easy. And, lounge furniture, tables and chairs, and the linens are all provided.  The Rooftop holds up to 325 guests and the Loft holds up to 400.  How can you resist this chic, modern vibe?

Now, its off to the upper west side.  The Mandarin Oriental is a magnificent hotel with views of Central Park and Columbus Circle.  In the heart of the action, this glorious venue will cater to your every need.  From assisting with guest accommodations, to spa services, custom menus and complimentary services for the bride and groom, this is a premier hotel and worth taking a look at.  Here, as in many of the NYC venues, a planner is required.  And, you have one right here.

Staying in this quintessential and exciting part of the city, lets head on over to The Plaza Hotel. One of New York's most notable and iconic hotels is ready to take you to your dream wedding.  Built in 1907, this beautiful place has so many options for your ceremony and reception.  Hold a ceremony in the Terrace Room with some of the hotel's most historic details and then off to the Grand Ballroom, in the beaux arts style, for a culinary treat for the senses and to dance the night away.  Other space in the hotel includes The Edwardian Room with its large windows overlooking the park to the Oak Room with its frescoes of Bavarian castles.  No matter where you say your I Do's, every inch of the Plaza holds a bit of history and a sight to behold.

Everyone who has visited New York has been to Rockefeller Center.  Its among the most traveled areas for tourists and its right across the street from the Cathedral.  How many proposals have happened at the skating rink and in front of the tree at Christmas.  So, what better place than 620 Loft to celebrate your wedding.  The 620 Loft is at the top of the Rock!  Everyone knows the Rainbow Room, but here is a chic and edgy partner for you modern city dwellers.  The views are spectacular!!  The spires of St Patrick's are the backdrop to your ceremony.  The rooftop garden is amazing.  And, the entire outdoor space is tented in the colder months.  The space holds from 60- 160 guests.  And, the memories of this venue will be something your guests will talk about for years to come.  Just look at the windows inside and the perfect outdoor space.  No doubt you will feel on top of the world in this venue.

Last stop on our virtual site visit is back downtown.  And, this is not the venue for everyone.  But, for the edgy couple who wants to be totally unique, has vision ( or a planner with all the moves) and is ready for a totally nontraditional venue, Houston Hall is for you!!  This is a super cool space, with a feel like the Green Building in Brooklyn ( another one of my faves).  With its exposed brick walls, 5 skylights and an open feel that you can do anything with, this beer hall can be transformed into a fabulous wedding space.  Who gets married in a beer hall, you ask?  Well, you do, if you want a funky and fun place to start your forever.

Hope you enjoyed our site visit.  If you have more questions or want to set up a real tour of any of these spaces, let me know.  I would be happy to set it up for you.  Tomorrow we are off to Napa Valley.  All the way across the country.  But, we will be back on the east coast again and also travelling down south.  Any place you want to explore?  Drop me a line.  We can go anywhere you want to go.  See you tomorrow!
